STEPS INTO MISSION SERVICE
INITIAL CONTACT- **COMPLETED**
The process for Short-Term Associate (STA) service commences after the prospective candidate's first contact with someone from the MAF Recruiting Department. Subsequently, the skills and abilities of the prospective candidate are assessed to determine if they match the short-term needs of MAF.
FORMAL APPLICATION- **COMPLETED**
Formal applications are sent to persons who have the skills and abilities that met current or probable short-term needs. Completed applications and documentation (certifications, references, school transcripts, etc.) are presented to the Candidate committee for review and approval.
INTERVIEW & EVALUATION- **PENDING**
Once the application is approved, the applicants will receive a formal invitation to come to MAF headquarters in Redlands, CA, at their own expense, for a minimum two to three day interview. This includes, but may not be restricted to: interview by managers, the Candidate Committee, consultation with the MAF staff psychologist and tiem with the Ministry Partnership (MP) team. Applicants seeking a technical assignment may also be requested to attend a 1 or 2 week skills evaluation. Included with the invitation are medical examination forms and psychological tests to be completed and returned in preparation for this interview.
MINISTRY PARTNERSHIP
STAs are required to bring together "Ministry Partners" who provide the vital prayer and financial support for successful ministry in the world. Although the amount of prayer has no limits, the amount of financial support needed varies according to assignment location, housing needs, travel expenses, dependents, etc. A counselor from Ministry Partnership will be assigned to assist in thsi process of building a support base.
SHORT-TERM ORIENTATION (SRO)
This 6-10 day session is held at MAF Headquarters as scheduled by our Staff Development department. The candidates come together for an "in-depth" look at MAF, world missions, and cross-cultural living. This orientation is usually held shortly before leaving for the field, often during the summer months. In addition, job specific technical training may be required which could take 2 weeks or more to accomplish.
